The music program is one of the distinguishing features of Ashgrove State School. All children participate in a classroom music lesson for a half hour each week. Students from Year 3 and above also have the opportunity to be part of the String Ensemble or Concert Band.
The music performance uniform for students in Senior Strings, Senior Band & Senior Choir consists of black pants, music polo, black shoes and black socks. Music pants and shirt can be purchased from the school uniform shop.
Instrumental music
The schools Instrumental Music program is a key feature of Ashgrove State School. The school has almost 200 children involved in the program from Year 3 to Year 6. The children have the opportunity to be part of the Strings program from Year 3–Year 6 which is taught by Ms Emma Nixon. The Woodwind, Brass and Percussion program, offered to students in Year 4-6, is taught by Ms Jane Elliott and Ms Christine Elsworth.
Lessons are conducted during school hours on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
